How It's Made

To make my needle felted animals I start by creating a base out of wire.  I build up the form by felting a less processed wool to the wire frame until it is the relative shape of the finished product.  I felt the wool by stabbing special needles into it many times until the scales of the wool latch on to each other and cause the wool to condense.  For the last layer I use dyed wool to add color and detail.  Here are the steps from a recent commission.
